Oris
Oris is Swiss luxury for those who choose authenticity, mechanics, and an independent spirit. The brand combines over a century of watchmaking heritage with a modern approach to prestige—less ostentatious, more conscious, and distinctly personal.
Oris
History by year
Birth in Hölstein
Paul Cattin and Georges Christian found a watchmaking company in Hölstein. They take the name Oris from a nearby brook, linking the brand to its birthplace.
Big Crown Pointer Date
Oris presents a pilot's watch with a large crown, making it easy to operate while wearing gloves. The pointer date display is becoming one of the brand's most recognizable design elements.
Regained independence
Rolf Portmann and Ulrich W. Herzog lead a management buyout of the company. Oris regains its independence and soon focuses exclusively on mechanical watches.
New generation: Calibre 400
The Oris-developed automatic Calibre 400 makes its debut. A five-day power reserve and increased resistance to magnetic fields set a new direction for the development of the brand's movements.
