Zenith
History by year
Beginning in Le Locle
Georges Favre-Jacot founded his manufacture in Le Locle, bringing together the various stages of watch production under one roof. Thus began the history of Zenith.
The Birth of El Primero
Zenith presents El Primero — an integrated automatic chronograph movement operating at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. It becomes a technical symbol of the brand.
The return of the legendary mechanism
El Primero returned to production thanks to tools and documentation previously saved by watchmaker Charles Vermot. His determination helped preserve the manufacture's most important heritage.
Measurement of hundredths of a second
The DEFY El Primero 21 makes its debut. A separate chronograph movement operating at a frequency of 50 Hz allows for time measurement with 1/100th of a second precision.
