From the very beginning, Breitling built its reputation around the precise measurement of short intervals of time. Chronographs, aviation, and a bold design language define the brand's character to this day.

History by year
Beginning in Saint-Imier
Léon Breitling opens a workshop in Saint-Imier. Precision timekeeping and the development of chronographs become the foundation of the brand.
Independent chronograph pusher
Gaston Breitling introduces a wrist chronograph with a pusher at the two o'clock position, separated from the crown. This design facilitates operation of the stopwatch and reduces the risk of accidental activation.
The birth of the Navitimer
The Navitimer is created — a chronograph with a circular slide rule for performing flight calculations. Over time, it becomes one of the most recognizable watches for pilots.
Emergency — distress signal
Breitling has evolved the Emergency model, equipping it with a patented extendable antenna system. The integrated emergency transmitter assists in locating the user during search and rescue operations.
